Wilpattu National Park.
Nature
Wilpattu, the largest and the oldest national park in Sri Lanka has been opened to the public after about 18 years.

It is situated within the North Central Province and the North Western Province. It is 131,696 hectares in extent and was named as a wildlife sanctuary in 1905. Then in1985 it was declared a prohibited area for tourists.
 
Monastic complex at Polonnatuwa.

The Alahena Pirivena is a monadtic complex at Polonnaruwa. The sacred buildings belonging to this pirivena were built on top of a series of landscaped terraces. It has a history dating back many years.

The Alahena Pirivena is believed to have been built by Parakramabahu the Great. The impressive remains which can be seen to this day are thought to be his creations.
 
Last Sinhala King.

The last Sinhala King to rule Sri Lanka was Sri Vira Parakrama Narendrasinha (1706-1739), who was known as Kundasale Rajjuruvo. After his death, Malabar Kings from South India, who were Hindus, ruled the Kandyan Kingdom for 76 years.
