Image Sri Lanka is a tropical island in the Indian ocean and as a result there are lots of beautiful birds living in the country. Apart from the local birds many migrant birds too are found in the country. The Arangaya, Lankasalalihiniya, Watharathu malkoha, are just a few of the local birds. Some of the migrant birds are herons, storks, egrets, swallows flemingoes and orioles.

ImageThe Moonstone (Sandakada Pahana) is a stone carving found in the ancient ruin cities of Sri Lanka. Its name has been derived . From its shape of a crescent (half moon ) and it is found at the foot of a series of steps leading to temples, monasteries or palaces.
