The roots of Lassana Flora (Pvt.) Ltd. go back not very far but to the year 1998, when Dr. Lasantha Malavige, the Founder and Managing Director was inspired to do more with his much loved hobby, floral décor. With characteristic initiative he put his inspiration into action and Lassana Flora (Pvt.) Ltd. came into being on the 22nd of April 1998. Situated at no. 279, Nawala Road, Nawala, at its inception this remarkable flower shop had staff strength of only two.
Lassana Flora took part in the annual “Bridal Fair” organized by the Sri Lanka Hair Dressers and Beauticians Association, and held at Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Center in 2000. The creative designs were a hit both with the visitors to the fair and the judges, winning several awards and bagging second place with the designs for the Poruwa and table décor.
In 2001, Lassana Flora was judged the winner for the best Poruwa design, settee back and bridal bouquet at the same event.
After winning the three main categories in 2001, Lassana Flora decided to give a chance to the newcomers to the field and was the principal sponsor of the floral décor competition in the year 2002. From 2003 to 2007 advancing into the growing market, Lassana Flora was one of the co-sponsors of the “Bridal Fair”.
In addition, Lassana Flora has been the principal sponsor of the “My Wedding” bridal fair held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall in from 2004 - 2007. It has also been a co-sponsor of the “Chavikalyani Beauty Contest” in the years 2004 and 2005 and the main sponsor of the first ever “Dream Bride” in June 2005.
Within a few years Lassana Flora has grown to become the market leader in floral arrangements while creating the most innovative and elegant designs at an affordable price. Specializing mainly in wedding décor, Lassana Flora opened a branch in Kandy in July 2004 and in Negombo in March 2005 to cater to a growing number of customers.
